We avoid polyester and synthetic blends entirely to ensure that every layer touching your child’s skin remains natural, soft, and comfortable.

Our sleep sacks are made with breathable materials and thoughtfully placed closures to support comfort while helping maintain a consistent body temperature. We recommend following standard safe sleep guidelines and dressing your baby according to room temperature. 

Our cashmere and alpaca sleep sacks are designed for year-round use.  

These natural fibres adapt to changing conditions, helping keep babies comfortable across a wide indoor temperature range of approximately 16°C to 27°C (61°F to 80°F). 

Layering depends on room temperature.  

In warmer conditions, a lightweight layer such as a bodysuit is sufficient. In cooler conditions, an additional layer like Herdmate’s organic Pima cotton zip romper can be added. A detailed dressing guide is available to help you choose the right combination. 

To preserve the integrity of natural fibres: 

• Hand wash cashmere and alpaca products. Silk and organic Pima cotton zip romper can be machine washed on a delicate cold cycle 
• Use a mild, wool-safe detergent 
• Lay flat to dry 
• Avoid high heat and harsh chemicals  

Care instructions are included with every product. 

No. Mulberry silk is naturally resistant to absorbing moisture, helping retain your baby’s natural skin oils and any applied creams.

Silk creates less friction than traditional fabrics.  

This helps reduce rubbing against delicate hair and may minimize hair loss and scalp irritation. 

Our sleep sacks are designed to grow with your child and typically fit from 2 months up to 2 years.
